Janice Long Hayes, 74, a longtime resident of Granville County, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 at Granville Medical Center in Oxford.
She was the daughter of the late John Floyd Long Sr. and Lillie Dell Breedlove. She was a member of Knott’s Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will be private.
Surviving are her husband of fifty- seven years, James Bernice Hayes, Sr. of the home, a daughter Shay Hayes Bennett (Chris Curl) of Henderson, two sons, James B. Hayes Jr. (Beth) of Roxboro, Jeffrey L. Hayes of Garner, two sisters, Sally Long Pruitt of Oxford, Hazel Long Ramsey of Oxford, a brother George W. Long of Henderson, seven grandchildren, Joshua L. Hayes, Lauren B. Bennett, Lily E. Hayes, Anna G. Hayes, Kayley R. Bennett, Olivia S. Hayes and Jared L. Bennett. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Rogers and three brothers, John Long, James Long and Anthony Long.
Visitation will be held Tuesday July 7, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.
